Practice Mindfulness with These Journal Prompts

Journaling is an important tool for self-reflection and relaxation. Journaling allows us to peek into our inner thoughts more deeply than we normally can. I like to journal most days of the week, even if what I’m writing seems random. It’s nice to have a place to dump all of my thoughts at the end of the day!

Sometimes it’s nice to have prompts when we can’t quite figure out what to write about. Here are some prompts to help dive deeper into your thoughts and mind! I suggest doing one a day until you get comfortable journaling freely.

  • What am I struggling with today?
  • What brings me joy?
  • What does my ideal day look like? What about my ideal life?
  • Some habits I wish to start are…
  • What does success look like to me?
  • Today, I am most grateful for…
  • My biggest strength is…
  • What am I most afraid of? How can I actively overcome this fear?
  • I am extremely proud of myself because…
  • My best quality is…
  • If I had more free time I would…
  • What negative thoughts or feelings are limiting my ability to relax?
  • What are my biggest pet peeves? Why?
  • What makes me smile? How can I incorporate these day to day?
  • Sit in silence for 5 minutes. What thoughts came to mind?
  • My most important values are…
  • How can I procrastinate less?
  • What positive thing(s) happened today?
  • Let’s reflect on the day. What can I do tomorrow to make my day better than today?
